Throughout my time at University, my future career direction was something I was uncertain of. From experiences during my biological degree, I enjoyed learning about novel scientific studies and theories, yet I knew I wanted a commercial and business focused role.

When I came across Hanson Wade, a fast growing company that would ensure an involvement in life sciences and sales, I applied for the role of Delegate Acquisition Executive.  In this role, I continued hearing about scientific innovation while honing my sales skills and gaining invaluable experience driving revenue through my interactions with Senior Scientists, Directors and C-level individuals from Biotechs and Pharma.

Hanson Wade provided the opportunity and platform to impact teams across the business by providing the collective responsibility to deliver a profitable, focused and enjoyable event. In addition, the flexibility of the company’s products and growth meant more career progressing opportunities presented themselves.

I have now moved into the Beacon team, which is a clinical trial and drug database for targeted therapies in oncology.  It operates as something of a start-up within the wider business and has presented a new opportunity to have a significant impact and move towards a more technical sales role while continuing to enjoy the culture of an established company. In Beacon we’re working to empower drug developers to make more informed decisions regarding development of their therapeutics and ultimately impacting the level of successful therapies available to patients.

I feel the culture here ensures an environment where feedback and proactive learning is encouraged, while also allowing space for responsibility and organic ideas to develop. As a result, I continue to embrace the role and the new challenges it presents and am grateful to be able to travel, while learning about a specific part of oncology and continuing to progress and develop new skills.
