I knew I wanted to work in Events from a young age and, after studying Events Management at Leeds Beckett University, Hanson Wade first caught my eye on LinkedIn. I immediately applied for the Event Coordinator role and, after an engaging and interactive interview process, I knew it was going to be a great place to launch my career.
A key part of my role is onsite management. It is great to get to travel and experience amazing destinations. The role has led me to the sunny coasts of California, the mountainous ranges in Colorado and the music city of Nashville. I‘ve also been given fantastic opportunities to work on all types of events, small and large, complex and bespoke. There have been a number of highlights over the years, one of which is undoubtedly watching a launch event grow from a projected 80 people, to 800 in its 4th year, knowing I had a significant impact on this success.
We all work exceptionally hard, at a fast pace and under immense pressure. At times it’s felt like there’s an impossible amount to do within the deadline and to the high standard expected. At those times, the support and encouragement of great teams across the business and the strong work ethic of those around me has helped me pull through the challenges. Furthermore, the recognition, the opportunity to continually learn and develop, and the incredible rate of career progression means that all the hard work is entirely worth it.
Since joining in October 2015 as Event Coordinator, I was promoted after just 9 months to Senior Event Coordinator and then given line management responsibilities. In November 2017 I was promoted again to Event Manager and, most recently, I took on the role of Portfolio Event Manager. Although I have always been ambitious, I had no idea when I first started out that I could progress to this level in my career so quickly.
What I love about Hanson Wade, and what has made it an incredible place for me to work, is from day one the company has invested in me, my future and my passion for the events industry.
