Tom joined Hanson Wade in 2009 as one of the first full-time hires. Having graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge with a degree in history, Tom’s early career was focused on sales and data. He was responsible for marketing the first Hanson Wade events and built the foundation of the company’s technology platform. Tom now holds the role of CEO with a focus on product quality, company culture and scalable process. His priority is building a first class team and giving them the best opportunity to produce outstanding results.
Sarah was a co-founder of Hanson Wade in 2008 and CEO from 2008 to 2013. She has 23 years experience in the conference industry which include launching and running successful businesses in Chicago, Sydney and Singapore. Prior to founding Hanson Wade she led the London office for a US conference company. Sarah graduated from Durham University with a BA (Hons) degree in English Literature.
Darren joined Hanson Wade in January 2010 and is the company’s Chief Financial Officer. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), having qualified with Royal & Sun Alliance, a FTSE 100 company, where he spent the first 17 years of his career. Prior to joining Hanson Wade he has held senior finance roles at F&C Asset Management, PLUS Markets Group, where he was CFO and a member of the Executive Board and The Phoenix Group.
Joanna has worked in the conference industry since 1997 in both Asia and Europe. Having started her career in production, she launched and managed a successful conference division for the transport industry with a particular focus on rail and engineering. She has held a variety of senior roles with both operational and product focus. Joanna produced Hanson Wade’s first conference in 2008 for the shipping industry which provided the company with a strong platform on which to grow. From 2010 – 2017 she was responsible for recruitment of high calibre staff.
Matthew Turner, Chief Conference Product Officer, graduated from Nottingham University with a degree in Biology in 2010 and joined Hanson Wade in 2013. With a mandate to identify emerging sectors within the life science, and more recently Agriculture industries, Matthew specialises in novel topic generation, commercial event validation and portfolio development of existing and future brands. He continues to nurture and train the next generation of conference producers and is responsible for the strategic growth and product quality of life science conferences.
Phil joined Hanson Wade in 2014 as the Commercial Director. Phil brought 15 years of sales leadership experience to the business where he had specialised in building large, high performing sales departments. Initially tasked with growing the capability of the sponsorship sales function his remit expanded to include delegate sales in January 2016. He now works in the senior team as the Chief Commercial Officer and is responsible for setting and executing Hanson Wade’s commercial strategy.
