City Gateway is a charity dedicated to bringing hope to the local communities of Tower Hamlets that haven’t benefited from the area’s wider economic development. They run a variety of projects offering disadvantaged individuals everything from community events and drop-in youth clubs to apprenticeship schemes. Hanson Wade are proud to be working with them.
Our first apprentice, Ricky Sadiq, was with us for a period of 6 months. He came to us with very little commercial experience and had never been exposed to a corporate environment. We didn’t really know what to expect from our first apprentice, but Ricky came in with great enthusiasm and ambition, threw himself into the role, and got involved with the team on a social level as well.
During his time here, Ricky had the opportunity to spend time in many different departments allowing him to access and develop skills he didn’t even realize he had. This wouldn’t have been possible without the willingness of Hanson Wade employees to give up their time to help train and mentor Ricky.
Ricky completed a review for us before he left. Some of his comments about the apprenticeship included:
“The apprenticeship scheme at Hanson Wade overall was exceptional. Considering this was a pilot for the company, I think that it was handled with complete professionalism. I also feel that my current skills were challenged and developed the whole way through the apprenticeship, which has allowed me to go for jobs for which I would never usually be applicable. I would heavily recommend an apprentice to choose working with Hanson Wade as I have noticed development in my maturity, personality/confidence, and above all, my ability to absorb information and apply it to not just my career but my life as well.”
Ricky had a job offer the week he left Hanson Wade, which is a testament to the value that our apprenticeship scheme offers.
